Role debut in Strauss’ ‘Die frau ohne Schatten’

During the holiday season, Eric Cutler makes his greatly anticipated debut as Der Kaiser in Strauss’ Die frau ohne Schatten at the Staatsoper Hamburg. The work, which librettist Hugo von Hofmannsthal described as “strange and mysterious” and a “fairy-tale”, features direction by Andreas Kreigenburg, set design by Harald B. Thor, and costume design by Andrea Schraad.

On December 26, Mr. Cutler shares the stage with Emily Magee as Die Kaiserin, Linda Watson as Die Amme, Bogdan Baciu as Der Geisterbote, and Gabriele Rossmanith as Ein Hüter der Schwelle des Tempels. Kent Nagano conducts the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Hamburger Alsterspatzen, and the Chor der Hamburgischen Staatsoper.
