‘Fidelio’ at Royal Opera House
September 18, 2024
This October, Eric Cutler makes his highly anticipated return to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, taking on a signature role: Florestan in Beethoven’s Fidelio. Directed by Tobias Kratzer, this production explores themes of freedom, justice, and the transformative power of love, while questioning when political inaction crosses into complicity.
Mr. Cutler is joined by Jennifer Davis, who portrays the fearless Leonore (Fidelio), Peter Rose as Rocco, Christina Gansch as Marzelline, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher as Don Pizarro. Conductor Alexander Soddy leads the orchestra in this powerful and thought-provoking take on Beethoven’s only opera.
The performances are scheduled for October 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, and 26.
